TV-Series
Description
Yui Yumekawa is an 11-year-old Avocado Academy student who turns 12 during the series. She has purple eyes and short, curly yellow hair styled in round pigtails decorated with a light blue bow featuring a gold star. In PriPara, she transforms, growing taller with waist-length hair adorned by additional pink bows and eyes marked by a distinctive star shape.

Extremely dreamy and easily distracted, Yui frequently daydreams during daily activities. She habitually places her right hand on her cheek when delighted or fantasizing. Despite self-doubt about her abilities, she persistently dreams of becoming an idol. She speaks in third person, often incorporating "yume" (dream) or "Yumekawa" (dreamy-cute) into her speech. She carries a rice cooker named Tacky or Cooky everywhere due to her love for rice and tendency to space out during meals; her favorite variety is Yumepirika rice. Initially, she believes an idol form is a separate person.

Her background reveals a long-standing passion for idolhood, practicing performances since childhood without formal training. She designs her own Lovely-type fashion brand, Fantasy Time, inspired by magical girl aesthetics and pastel colors. Permitted to use it in PriPara as the first customer of Paparajuku’s Prism Stone, she has designed clothes since age three and enjoys knitting. Her family includes an older brother, Shogo Yumekawa. Their relationship is contentious due to his dismissal of her idol aspirations, motivating her determination to prove him wrong; he later becomes supportive.

Her idol journey begins when she partners with roommate Laala Manaka, a Divine Idol, to save the newly opened Paparajuku PriPara from closure due to low attendance. She debuts as its first idol and wins the inaugural Idol Time Grand Prix—her first competition. She co-founds the unit MY☆DREAM with Nino Nijiiro and Michiru Koda. Her performances feature cosmic motifs like stars in her coords. She aids efforts to revive the dormant time spirit Falala, achieving temporary success. She overcomes depression after punishment for attending PriPara and demonstrates resilience by completing arduous school tasks.

In *Idol Land PriPara*, she is magically locked in an eternal sleep, her soul sealed within a barrier; her physical body functions without her dreamy personality traits. She intermittently awakens in a smaller form emerging from her rice cooker, serving as a manager for another character while unable to perform as an idol. A parallel version named Yui Gekikawa exists in *Kiratto Pri☆Chan*, sharing her PriPara appearance and using "Gekikawa" (super cute) instead of "Yumekawa."

Her birthday is August 18 (Rice Day), she is a Leo, and has blood type O. She shares this birthday with Himari Aozora. Her surname combines "yume" (dream) and "kawa" (river). She shares runway walking mannerisms with Falala, Garara, and Mia.
