Description
Owen is a wizard residing in the Northern Country, known for his mysterious and eerie presence. He speaks politely yet frequently utters disturbing statements that sow despair. Manipulative by nature, he delights in suffering and deliberately cultivates a negative perception, making genuine connections nearly impossible. He holds a reputation as one of the North's most dangerous and cruel wizards. A golden left eye, originally Cain's, replaced his own red eye during an unspecified incident. His wizard crest manifests uniquely on his tongue. He typically wears a white pinstripe suit, a long coat with a purple underside, a navy uniform hat, brown gloves, and wingtip shoes.

Much of Owen's past is lost to him due to memory loss; he recalls little of his history or age. Feared for his magic in youth, he endured centuries imprisoned in a dark basement. His sole possession was a fairy tale picture book featuring knights, fostering a lasting, though denied, obsession reflected in his magical amulet – a knight chess piece. To survive imprisonment, he hid his soul from his body, gaining the ability to revive after death while still enduring the agony of each demise. This created a torturous cycle of starvation and revival until an accidental release freed him.

After gaining freedom, Owen retreated to a snow-laden northern forest, living as a hunter and communing with wolves. Animals instinctively gather around him when he rests. He now forcibly confines Cerberus, a three-headed wolf, within his suitcase, claiming it resents him and would attack if freed; their meeting circumstances remain unclear.

Owen is volatile, deceitful, and mischievous, rarely honest and often stating the opposite of his true thoughts. He actively seeks or creates despair and fear, as negative human emotions uniquely replenish his mana, unlike other wizards who draw from nature or positive energy. His despicable reputation serves to attract targets. Despite fierce pride and independence, contradictions emerge: a fondness for sugary foods described with gruesome analogies, and unconscious care for animals – talking to, petting, and singing for them. He claims to prefer humans for their cruelty and ease of intimidation. Compliments unsettle him, prompting curt responses due to assumed mockery. Rustica, a fellow wizard, acknowledged his singing ability, though their interactions are ambiguous.

A "bizarre injury" from the Great Calamity manifests as a separate, child-like personality (known among fans as "kizu Owen"). Unlike others whose injuries surface nightly, Owen's activates unpredictably. This innocent persona craves praise and exhibits deep abandonment fear, often scratching doors or walls – a possible trauma echo of his imprisonment. It fixates on Cain as a knight figure, causing Cain discomfort. Owen retains no memory of this state and reacts with anger and humiliation upon learning of its manifestations, heavily implied to represent his childhood self during confinement.

Relationships are strained, particularly with Cain. Owen exposed Cain as a wizard, leading to Cain's expulsion from the Central knights, and orchestrated their eye exchange. Cain attempts civility due to their shared role combating the Great Calamity, complicated further by Owen's child persona. Owen currently resides at the Central Country's Magic Manor, occasionally seen at Shylock's bar, in gardens, or playing cards with Mithra and Bradley.

Owen is the only wizard confirmed to have hidden his soul, enabling his revival. He possesses two unique incantations: "quare morito" (theorized "Why die?") and "cur memini" (theorized "Why forget?"). His magical object is the Cerberus-containing suitcase. He is associated with the major arcana card "XIV: Temperance" and draws inspiration from literary works like "And Then There Were None" and "The Mark of Cain."
