Description
Hyuse, a Neighbor warrior from Aftokrator, finds himself marooned on Earth after a clash with Border agent Jin during an invasion. Deserted by his allies, he begrudgingly enlists in Border under the alias Hyuse Cronin, posing as Cronin’s nephew to forge a route home. Trained in swordsmanship by mentor Viza from childhood, he earned the Horn Trigger Lampyris at 14, a weapon tied to his unwavering loyalty to House Ellin’s leader—a candidate for Aftokrator’s deity. This allegiance fuels internal strife when their potential sacrifice looms.
His appearance features light brown hair, pale skin, and piercing blue-green eyes, with curved goat horns above his ears that force him to sleep facedown. Initially clad in Aftokrator’s gray gakuran uniform and a cloak marked with rank circles, he later sports Earth’s casual garments like black hoodies. As a Border agent, his military-style Tamakoma Second uniform masks his horns via a trion body.
Hyuse maintains steely composure, deferring to superiors like Hyrein and Viza but unleashing fiery retorts against insults targeting them or his homeland. A rivalrous streak emerges in his determination to surpass Yūma Kuga’s training milestones, while his tactical mind shines through battle analyses, such as proposing terrain-shifting strategies later used by Osamu Mikumo. Honor-bound, he frames decisions as avoiding disgrace before his lord.
Combat prowess stems from formidable trion reserves—second only to Chika Amatori in Border—amplified by horn-embedded Trion Receptors. A master of Kogetsu and Viper, he adapts swiftly to Border Triggers, crafting delayed bullet trajectories and wielding Escudo innovatively for attacks, shields, and mobility. Prior to Border, Lampyris enabled magnetic projectile manipulation for offense and defense.
Key arcs include joining Tamakoma Second via Border HQ negotiations, contingent on guiding Neighborhood expeditions. During B-Rank Wars, his strategies and combat synergy with Yūma secure victories, like defeating Masato Kageura. Interactions evolve from thawing aloofness to collaborative respect, marked by post-match fist bumps. Relationships with Tamakoma Branch range from gratitude toward Yōtarō Rindō to lingering distrust of Jin and Konami.
Navigating Earth’s culture, he puzzles over free food offerings and capybaras, contrasting Aftokrator’s trion economy. Quirks include an unconventional chopstick grip and a weakness for taiyaki. Outside combat, he harbors a penchant for sketching and canine companions, concealing a mischievous streak aimed at Konami.
