Description
Kashima Ouka (Ōka Kashima) is a 17-year-old human male adventurer standing 190 cm tall. He possesses black hair, green eyes, and a notably large, muscular physique. Orphaned by bandits who killed his family, he was adopted by the god Takemikazuchi along with fellow orphans Mikoto Yamato, Chigusa Hitachi, and Haruhime Sanjouno. As the oldest in the group, he naturally assumed leadership within the Takemikazuchi Familia, treating the younger members as siblings and prioritizing their safety above everything else.
His personality blends warmth and fierce loyalty with pragmatic decisiveness. Ouka maintains a cheerful demeanor to bolster his familia's spirits, yet willingly makes harsh choices when necessary, such as endangering strangers to ensure his group's survival. He accepts blame without hesitation if it protects his friends, demonstrated when he offered profound apologies after sacrificing Bell Cranel's party during a dungeon incident to rescue an injured Chigusa. Despite his emotional intelligence within his familial bonds, he remains oblivious to romantic cues, failing to recognize Chigusa's feelings for him while openly expressing interest in others like Tiona Hiryute.
A Level 2 adventurer, Ouka specializes in frontline combat, wielding heavy weapons suited to his stature and often acting as a defensive shield for his team. For demanding expeditions, he commissioned the weapon "Kogou" from the blacksmith Welf Crozzo. His signature technique, "Koku," delivers a powerful finishing strike; augmented by Haruhime's magic, it famously decapitated the floor boss Amphis Baena on the 27th floor.
Loyalty consistently drives Ouka's actions through key events. He aided in rescuing Bell Cranel's party after the Monster Pass incident and later fought alongside them against the Black Goliath, risking his life to protect Bell. When Freya's charm magic turned Orario's inhabitants hostile toward Bell, Ouka participated in the aggression but swiftly offered support once the spell broke. During the War Game, he served in a scouting unit but was defeated early; his efforts still contributed indirectly to his allies' victory.
His relationship with the blacksmith Welf Crozzo evolved from initial friction to mutual respect, culminating in battlefield partnership and Welf bestowing the nickname "Big Guy" upon him.
