Description
Ouka Kashima captains the Takemikazuchi Familia. He originates from a Far Eastern village destroyed by bandits, emerging as the sole survivor. Discovered and taken in by Takemikazuchi, he was later joined by fellow orphans Mikoto Yamato, Chigusa Hitachi, and Sanjouno Haruhime. Raised together at a mountain shrine, Ouka naturally became the protective elder brother figure. This shared upbringing forged deep familial bonds and cemented his unwavering dedication to safeguarding his companions. Seeking financial support for their shrine community, the Familia relocated to Orario roughly two years before the main narrative.

Physically distinctive, Ouka stands 190 cm tall with a muscular build, black hair, and green eyes. He typically wears a lavender, red, and gold kamishimo-style top, brown pants secured by white bandages, black boots, and matching arm guards. His primary weapon is Kougou, a battleaxe forged by Welf Crozzo using high-quality Valmarth ore from the dungeon's lower floors. Wielding Kougou significantly augmented his combat strength, enabling him to confront threats typically requiring Level 3 adventurers despite his Level 2 status.

Ouka's personality blends serious leadership with contrasting lighthearted traits. He demonstrates decisive, pragmatic judgment in crises, prioritizing Familia safety even when endangering others. This was exemplified during the Monster Pass incident where he diverted monsters toward Bell Cranel's party to ensure his injured companions' escape. While unapologetic as a leader about this choice, he later expressed sincere remorse directly to Bell's group. His protective instincts extend to self-sacrifice, seen when shielding Bell from the Black Goliath. Despite this responsibility-driven demeanor, Ouka exhibits a marked interest in risqué topics, openly agreeing with Hermes about the "romance" of peeping and expressing a preference for slender figures like Tiona Hiryute. He also remains notably oblivious to romantic advances, particularly Chigusa's longstanding feelings.

His martial prowess stems from extensive training under Takemikazuchi, mastering multiple fighting styles and weapons while specializing as a frontline vanguard defender. During the Water Capital expedition to the 27th Floor, he utilized Kougou alongside Haruhime Sanjouno's magic enhancement to unleash "Koku," a powerful finishing move that decapitated the Amphis Baena boss monster, showcasing his synergy with allies and capacity for overwhelming augmented force.

Key narrative developments include an initial adversarial stance toward Bell Cranel during the Monster Pass scenario, evolving into mutual respect after their joint battle against the Black Goliath. When Freya's charm magic later influenced Orario, Ouka temporarily viewed Bell as an enemy but promptly sought reconciliation and offered support after the effect lifted. His participation in the War Game placed him in a scouting role, though he was defeated early during an enemy assault. Relationships also shifted; initially contentious interactions with Welf Crozzo transformed into camaraderie after shared combat, with Welf affectionately dubbing him "Big Guy."

Ouka's backstory received expanded focus during a crossover event with Goblin Slayer, revealing intense animosity toward goblins stemming from his traumatic past, adding dimension beyond the main series narrative.
