A tomboyish kendo club member, Minami frequently applies her kendo skills in confrontations. Privately, she adores cute items like pink decor and stuffed animals—a secret shared only with Garnet and reflected in her pink-themed bedroom. She fiercely supports her childhood friend Rinko Kougyoku, bolstering Rinko's resolve during challenges.

Minami harbors a crush on kendo senior Hisashi Miyamoto. Garnet persistently schemes to win Hisashi's affection, initially without success. By the series' conclusion, Hisashi shows mutual interest, prompting Minami to meticulously plan an outfit for their upcoming date.

Her core mission involves teaming with Rinko and Aoi Arisugawa to recover Jewelpets scattered across Earth. These Jewelpets, transformed into Jewel Charms for transit to Jewel Land's Dream Forest, were accidentally dispersed over Takaragaseki City during a storm. Minami races to find them before the rival Jewelpet Diana intervenes.

Beyond the 2009 anime, Minami appears solely in *Jewelpet the Movie: Sweets Dance Princess* via a cameo alongside Aoi, Rinko, and Tetsuo Nejikawa—an alternate continuity iteration separate from the main series.
