Description
Sixteen-year-old British chess champion Amelia Ruth is defined by her logical thinking and puzzle-solving abilities. Invited by Oswald Whistler to the Eternal Kingdom opera aboard the Crown Petone, she joined his contest seeking talented young girls to replace his deceased daughter, Melina. Amelia wears a white shirt with a red tie, an orange-and-white skirt, dark blue boots, and her hair in a braid secured with a red bow.

Reserved and analytical, Amelia expressed skepticism and intense focus throughout the dangerous contest for eternal life. She prioritized puzzle-solving over social interaction, remaining distant from other participants. Her dialogue consisted primarily of questions, reflecting her observant and strategic nature, such as questioning the safety of food on Ambrosia, suspecting it was part of a puzzle.

Her sole motivation was winning the elixir of eternal life for her terminally ill grandfather, who had only a month to live. This selfless goal drove her participation. Upon being declared the winner, she resisted the prize upon learning it required her to become a host for Melina's memories, exclaiming she intended the elixir for her grandfather, revealing vulnerability and desperation beneath her usual composure.

Amelia solved multiple puzzles independently, including Puzzle No. 001 and Puzzle No. 002 aboard the Crown Petone. She deduced the solution to Puzzle No. 003 by observing Professor Layton's actions and solved Puzzle No. 004 in the castle, which led to her imprisonment with the other contestants. Forcibly taken to the Detragan room for memory transfer, she was rescued by Emmy Altava.

Following the destruction of the Detra-Gigant and Ambrosia's rise, Amelia witnessed Melina's spirit depart from Janice's body and expressed a commitment to remembering Melina. Later, she visited her grandfather's grave, placing flowers and a chess piece beside it, symbolizing her acceptance of his passing and honoring their bond, implied to have included teaching her chess. Layton and Luke observed this moment from a distance.
