Description
Johann Ibrahim Revil assumed command of the Earth Federation Space Force as its supreme commander in U.C. 0078. As admiral, he led the Federation fleet when the One Year War erupted the next year, operating from his flagship, the *Ananke*.
The Battle of Loum in U.C. 0079 saw Zeon deploy mobile suits, overwhelming the numerically superior Federation fleet. During this decisive engagement, the *Ananke* was destroyed and Revil captured, marking a severe Federation defeat.
Revil later escaped Zeon custody aided by Federation agents and Zeon defectors. Upon his return to Federation territory, he delivered a crucial speech declaring "Zeon is exhausted!" detailing the weakened state of Zeon's military he witnessed while captive. This address rallied the Federation, prompting them to reject surrender offers and continue the war effort, despite the existing Antarctic Treaty banning specific weapons.
Later in the conflict, Revil personally commanded Operation Odessa, a major offensive against Zeon's Eastern European mining operations. There, he authorized Lieutenant Matilda Ajan to deliver upgrade modules for the RX-78-2 Gundam to the *White Base*. Following the Odessa victory, he met the *White Base* crew and issued them new orders in Belfast, Ireland.
Revil subsequently engaged in secret peace negotiations with Zeon Sovereign Degwin Sodo Zabi. During these talks, Degwin's son Gihren Zabi ordered the Solar Ray superweapon fired at the meeting site. The attack killed both Revil and Degwin, annihilated most of Revil's fleet including his flagship *Phoebe*, and ended his attempt to broker a conflict-ending surrender.
After Revil's death, Admiral Gopp assumed command and ultimately secured the One Year War ceasefire. Revil's legacy was later honored when the second Dogosse Giar-class battleship was named *General Revil* during the Third Neo Zeon War.
His rank of "General" (将軍) reflected his Earth Federation Army background, an uncommon distinction within the Earth Federation Forces structure. Some sources also suggest he held beliefs regarding Newtypes and might have been considered one, though this remains unclear.
