OVA
Description
Akiko leads Mishima Heavy Industries, a prominent military contractor, as its CEO. She is the ex-wife of inventor Kyusaku Natsume and mother to their son, Ryunosuke. Her central conflict involves a fierce pursuit to regain custody of Ryunosuke and recover the advanced android body prototype stolen by Kyusaku, later inhabited by Nuku Nuku. This drive merges corporate interests with personal desires.

In the original OVA, she commands frequent military assaults using Mishima weaponry like combat vehicles, powered armor, and aerial units. She deploys subordinates Arisa and Kyōko on these missions, which often escalate into large-scale destruction during clashes with Nuku Nuku. Despite her antagonism, she shows glimpses of lingering affection towards Kyusaku, including a brief, unsuccessful attempt at cohabitation. Her interactions with Ryunosuke reveal a possessive yet genuinely caring maternal love, sometimes expressed through extreme measures like hypnosis or elaborate kidnappings.

The television series alters her corporate standing, demoting her from CEO to a mid-level executive under a new antagonist, Hell Mishima. Her direct antagonistic actions against Nuku Nuku and her family decrease significantly, reflecting a reduced narrative role as she participates in, rather than leads, the company's schemes.

The *DASH!* OVA presents an alternate continuity where Akiko is transferred to a secret Mishima Corporation department tasked with capturing an escaped android prototype (Nuku Nuku). Pragmatically following orders to retrieve or destroy it, she remains largely unaware of its identity as the amnesiac Atsuko Higuchi living with her family. Her familial ties to Kyusaku and Ryunosuke persist, though Ryunosuke is older and romantically drawn to Nuku Nuku. Later, she suspects the new branch president's motives, warning corporate executives before he subdues her during a confrontation.

Across all versions, Akiko demonstrates determination and a volatile temperament, reacting with intense anger or frustration to failures. Comedic traits include exaggerated facial expressions (like cross-popping veins) and grandiose attack names (e.g., "Mother's Love Missile"). Her relationship with henchwomen Arisa and Kyōko involves comedic punishments for failures, yet their loyalty endures. Akiko remains a powerful corporate figure defined by intertwined familial conflicts and professional ambition, even as her specific role and level of antagonism shift between adaptations.
