Description
Natsuko Kondou is a supporting character in the anime Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress. She is one of the older sisters of the protagonist, Yu-yu Kondou. Natsuko is depicted as a young adult woman with long black hair that reaches waist length and purple eyes. She is part of a trio of sisters alongside Yukiko and Akiko Kondou, and together they play a notable role in shaping the early circumstances of Yu-yu's journey.

In terms of background and personality, Natsuko is portrayed as assertive, playful, and somewhat domineering toward her younger brother. Along with her sisters, she frequently pressures Yu-yu into fulfilling their often unreasonable and whimsical requests. Their antics, which include forcing Yu-yu to crossdress for their entertainment, are a key factor in motivating him to run away from home at the start of the series. This act of leaving sets the entire story in motion, as it leads Yu-yu to meet Megumi Okura and eventually discover the world of Cardfight!! Vanguard at the night amusement park called Wonder Hill. Natsuko's personality leans toward the teasing and mischievous side, and she does not appear to have any malicious intent, instead treating her brother's discomfort as a source of amusement.

Her role in the story is primarily that of a familial catalyst. While Natsuko does not participate in the central cardfighting plot or join the main cast's adventures, her presence in Yu-yu's home life establishes the initial conflict that drives him to seek independence and new connections. She represents the everyday pressures from which Yu-yu escapes, making his eventual growth as a fighter and as a person more meaningful. Her influence is felt most strongly in the early part of the narrative, establishing the family dynamic that contrasts with the camaraderie Yu-yu later finds in Team Blackout.

Key relationships center on her family. Natsuko is closely aligned with her sisters, Yukiko and Akiko, and the three of them act as a united front in their interactions with Yu-yu. Her relationship with Yu-yu is one of older-sister authority mixed with teasing dominance, though there is no indication of genuine hostility. Her presence in his life is a constant, even if he chooses to distance himself from it.

Development for Natsuko is minimal, as she remains a static background character who does not undergo significant change over the course of the series. Her narrative function is established early and remains consistent, serving more as a part of the setting than as an evolving individual.

Notable abilities are not a feature of Natsuko's character, as she is not a cardfighter and does not demonstrate any special skills within the storyline. Her significance lies entirely in her role within the Kondou household and her influence on Yu-yu's initial decisions. She is, in essence, a catalyst for the protagonist's departure into the wider world of the series.
