René lives within the confines of the Holy City of Celestizam, enjoying freedom inside its walls but strictly barred from leaving. He often voices his feelings of confinement to his mentor Mathias, describing himself as a "caged bird." His significant role emerges when he protects Angelique, the prophesied "Queen's Egg," from the journalist Roche in episode 6.

It is later revealed René is the true future leader of the Religious Organization, destined to succeed Mathias, who acts only as a temporary placeholder leader due to his exceptional memory. During the second season, Mathias implants an artifact chip created by Erenfried on his neck to gain power. This action triggers a conflict where Mathias kills the High Elder. Mathias is ultimately killed by Nyx/Erebos while defending René, forcing René to prematurely confront the full burden of his ordained leadership.

Following these events, René formally declares his intent to unite his power with Angelique's to combat the Thanatos threat and save Arcadia. His journey shifts from a confined existence to embracing his vital responsibilities in Arcadia's survival.
