During a pivotal clash between Dessler and Susumu Kodai, Miru shoots Yuki Mori as she shields Kodai. This act provokes Dessler to kill Miru, symbolizing Dessler's decisive break from the Comet Empire and his alignment with Yamato. Miru's role is exclusive to the narrative of the original 1978 film, later adapted into the "Space Battleship Yamato II" television series with significant alterations. The character does not appear in subsequent franchise seasons, films, or spin-offs, including the "Yamato 2199/2202" reboot continuity where Mil performs a similar yet distinct function.
