Description
Ophelia completes the Genma Triumvirate as the Priestess, wielding formidable witch-like powers that exceed those of Claudius and Rosencrantz. Her abilities include mind enslavement via a mysterious mask and shapeshifting to deceive targets. She also nurtures young Genma to maturity and creates Genma Insects, controlling them to infect hosts through bites or ingestion. This infection amplifies male strength and aggression, while transforming females into Genma Trees that spawn more insects; purification magic or fire can destroy them, and Ophelia can trigger the infection remotely.
In *Onimusha: Twilight of Desire* (1595), Ophelia conspires with the resurrected Guildenstern, manipulating Hidetsugu Toyotomi by offering Genma power to rebel against his uncle Hideyoshi. She orchestrates the assault on Mt. Hiei to steal the Oni Gauntlet containing Nobunaga Oda's sealed power, deploying a Genma Puppet resembling Kaede. After Hidetsugu absorbs half of Nobunaga's power, she observes his battle with Hideyoshi, indifferent to the victor as long as it serves Genma interests. When Tenkai impales her during Hidetsugu's interrogation, she escapes using the Puppet as a decoy. She later assumes Lady Yodo's identity at Fushimi Castle, sacrificing the real Yodo to create the Genma Mother Tree.
During *Onimusha: Night of Genesis* (1596–1597), disguised as Yodo, Ophelia allies with Munenori Yagyu. Bored with concubine life, she travels with him to Yagyu Village, releasing Genma Insects to destroy it by driving humans into violent madness or transforming them into Genma Trees. She confronts Sekishusai Yagyu, revealing herself as Oichi's daughter, declaring her intent to become Hideyoshi's wife and threatening to take Sekishusai's head. Tenkai intervenes, but she magically binds him until Akane Yagyu's Oni awakening distracts her. Tenkai breaks free, purifies the villagers with his Oni Gauntlet, and severely wounds Ophelia, forcing Munenori to retreat with her. Recovered, she moves to Osaka Castle, testing Genma Insects in sake while monitoring the Dark Stone's activation. Ohatsu notes her sister's changed behavior, recalling Yodo's former kindness.
In *Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams* (1598), Ophelia nurtures the Genma Seed in Hideyoshi's chest to resurrect the God of Light, monitoring his commitment to reviving Fortinbras. Using Yodo's form, she deceives Ohatsu, manipulating her to discourage Oni resistance. Exposed and defeated in battle, she reveals her true moth-human hybrid form before escaping as a dark puddle. She later aids Munenori at Nagoya Castle, activating the Space Folder to flee with him to Kyoto and destroying the device to hinder pursuit. In her final confrontation at Fushimi Castle, she fails to stop the protagonists from defeating Hideyoshi. Criticizing his failure, she tears the Genma Seed from his chest to summon the God of Light and awaken the Genma Mother Tree. Before completing the ritual, the real Yodo's consciousness within the tree impales and kills Ophelia using a root.
Throughout these events, Ophelia leverages her Genma Insects and influence to manipulate key figures like Hidetsugu Toyotomi and Munenori Yagyu, advancing Genma objectives.
