Her path shifted during a mission to recruit Tenchi Masaki, culminating in a crash-landing near his home. Mistaking bystander Seina Yamada—swept up in the aftermath—for Tenchi's apprentice, she handed him a Galaxy Police application. This breached regulations forbidding recruitment from underdeveloped worlds like Earth. The consequence: a delayed promotion to Detective 1st Class and reassignment as an instructor at the GP Academy alongside Kiriko Masaki, including oversight of Seina's training.
After Seina enrolled and underwent body-enhancement, he moved into Amane's private residence with Kiriko and undercover pirate Ryoko Balta (posing as Erma). Amane developed authentic romantic feelings for Seina, expressing them openly and vying for his attention.
