TV-Series
Description
Coco is a prince from the Palmier Kingdom, appearing as a beige fox-like fairy distinguished by a salmon-red head tuft, fluffy neck fur, and a puffy tail. He characteristically ends sentences with "~coco" in this form. He possesses the unique ability to transform into a human, using the alias Kokoda Kouji—a pun meaning "I am Coco" in Japanese. Maintaining this human form requires energy, and physical impacts can revert him to his fairy state. As Kokoda Kouji, he appears as a tall young man with short brown hair, typically dressed in casual shirts, trousers, and sneakers. His adult human form later features longer sideburns and more formal attire, like a dodger blue shirt with a white jacket.

His personality blends kindness and protectiveness with occasional strictness towards wrongdoing. He trusts others readily, even revealing his fairy identity to aid strangers. His fairy persona is energetic, contrasting with his calmer, wiser human demeanor. Key relationships shape his journey: his bond with fellow prince and childhood friend Nuts becomes strained after Nightmare's invasion exploited Nuts' misplaced trust. Though initially distant, they gradually rebuild their friendship despite lingering tensions, such as Nuts' jealousy over Coco aiding the Pretty Cure team. Coco consistently supports Nuts during vulnerabilities.

His relationship with Yumehara Nozomi evolves significantly. Initially viewing her as a trusted ally, he feels embarrassed by suggestions of romantic feelings. He frequently stays near her for protection, sensing her presence instinctively. During sequel series events, he admits his romantic feelings, notably after she kisses him to break mind control in a film. Despite fearing separation due to royal duties, he later confesses and proposes in the spin-off *Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~*, culminating in their marriage. Coco also navigates a cultural misunderstanding with Princess Crepe, who believed they were engaged since childhood; he rejects her romantic advances but maintains their friendship.

Fleeing to the human world after Nightmare destroyed the Palmier Kingdom, Coco searches for the Dream Collet and its 55 Pinkies to rescue Nuts and restore their homeland. He first meets Nozomi by preventing her fall and later discovers the Dream Collet at her school. Revealing his fairy form during an attack, he guides her and four others to become Pretty Cure, serving as their mentor. Learning Palmier's citizens survived but fell into despair, he expresses hope for rebuilding rather than succumbing to despair himself. Following Nightmare's defeat, he returns to Palmier with the kingdom's citizens.

In the sequel series, Coco becomes king of the restored Palmier Kingdom. He initially acts coldly toward Nozomi due to guilt over involving her in renewed conflicts with Eternal. He gains the Palmier crown's power, enabling him to summon Cure Fleurets for the Pretty Cure team. His past interaction with Syrup, a mailboy suffering amnesia, resurfaces when Syrup accuses him of deceit after failed attempts to locate a mysterious garden. Coco later rejects Princess Crepe's reaffirmed affections, prioritizing his feelings for Nozomi.

Years later in *Kibou no Chikara*, Coco struggles to balance kingship with personal connections. He gradually ceases visits and replies to Nozomi's letters as royal duties intensify, particularly during negotiations with the Donuts Kingdom over water shortages. After learning Nozomi and others regained their Pretty Cure abilities—paired with ominous Time Flowers—he intervenes when she faces danger, witnessing her transformation into Cure Dream. Allies arrange for him to move into an apartment adjacent to Nozomi's. Conflicts arise over Nozomi's health risks from transforming, leading to arguments and his apology for feeling powerless. While she is comatose after a battle, he confesses his love and proposes; she accepts upon waking. They marry, and Coco continues managing royal affairs, including aiding the Donuts Kingdom, while maintaining their relationship.
