Description
Saori Hidaka is a university student and member of DJ unit Merm4id, beginning her DJ career in high school after inspiration struck from a remix heard at club FROLIC. Her hardworking nature cultivated considerable technical skill, yet a persistent pessimistic mindset initially kept her from actively pursuing DJing until Rika recruited her into the unit. This prompted Saori to consciously work on changing her mentality to achieve professional goals.

Before joining Merm4id, Saori struggled socially, describing herself as a loner who found making friends difficult. She frequently did things alone and faced challenges maintaining positive relationships with coworkers at part-time jobs, leading her to quit those positions. Within the group, she typically acts as the straight man, often moderating Rika and Marika's excessive behaviors, especially when they dote on their younger member Saki.

Her character development is notably explored during a collaboration event with an American DJ and producer. This situation triggers a depressive episode rooted in intense insecurity about her musical abilities compared to international artists, compounded by her inability to speak English. While Rika and other group members eventually provide support, Saori must independently mobilize her own resources to resolve the professional challenges. This experience demonstrates both her ongoing vulnerability and growing resilience.

Physically, Saori has short wavy purple hair with bangs nearly reaching her shoulders and turquoise eyes. Her personal preferences include reading manga, light novels, and regular novels. She expresses strong affection for pandas. Favorite foods include cheese, squid, scallops, nuts, cucumbers, octopus, and shark cartilage. She dislikes cilantro, attributing this aversion to jealousy of how it "stands out," and harbors a fear of insects. Additional trivia notes her ticklishness, which group members exploit to alleviate pre-performance anxiety, and her background in calligraphy lessons, with one work displayed at her school's entrance. Her struggles with English remain consistent across media.
