Description
Ryosuke Takahashi is a highly skilled street racer and strategic leader known as "Akagi's White Comet," maintaining an undefeated streak on Mount Akagi before Legend 3. He pilots a white Mazda Savanna RX-7 Infini III (FC3S) featuring custom modifications like Fujita Engineering front lips, specific fog lights, and specialized wheels varying across different periods. His technical expertise enables him to analyze vehicle modifications solely by sound and assess driver capabilities by observing drifting techniques. He balances racing with medical studies, a path shaped by parental expectations, though his true passion lies in developing theories for achieving ultimate speed on public roads.

His racing career began as a solitary figure, refusing local teams and earning the moniker "Akagi's Lone White Comet." He later founded the Akagi RedSuns team with his brother Keisuke and others, aiming to dominate Japan's street racing scene. His analytical approach involves meticulous data collection and theory crafting, contrasting instinct-based drivers like Takumi Fujiwara. A personal tragedy occurred during his medical studies involving his relationship with Kaori, engaged to his senior Rin Hojo (later "Shinigami"). After her suicide under familial and Rin's pressure, Ryosuke distanced himself from this past while continuing to race.

In Legend 3, preparing for a decisive race against Takumi, Ryosuke downgrades his FC's power output to 260PS, believing optimized tire management and controlled power would secure victory, reflecting his strategic focus on balancing performance with tire durability. Before the race, he privately informs Keisuke that a loss would prompt his retirement from active racing, though he would continue leading the RedSuns. During the battle, he pressures Takumi by replicating his techniques, particularly the gutter run, forcing an error at the Five Consecutive Hairpins that allows Ryosuke to take the lead. However, excessive tire wear causes his FC to slide wide in the final corner, enabling Takumi's victory. In defeat, Ryosuke acknowledges Takumi's talent and advises him to seek challenges beyond Akina, hinting at broader racing opportunities.

Following this loss, Ryosuke temporarily retires from racing but returns to confront threats like Team Emperor and their leader Kyoichi Sudo, an old rival. His battle against Sudo highlights tactical brilliance: he exploits Sudo's hesitation during right-hand turns on two-way roads, a weakness from training on one-way courses, reinforcing his reputation for dissecting opponents' psychological and technical flaws. He later disbands the RedSuns to establish Project D, dedicated to breaking records across Japan's touge passes within a year before fully committing to medicine. As Project D's leader, he transitions to a mentor role, providing cryptic strategic advice during races—such as instructing Takumi to avoid rearview mirrors or manage RPM limits—while analyzing data from the sidelines. A manga-exclusive storyline depicts him effortlessly defeating an unskilled Porsche driver on Akagi, showcasing his enduring prowess.

After Project D disbands, he continues observing street races as a spectator, intending to identify new talent. His appearance evolves across media: dark blue hair in early stages, light brown in later stages, and black in Final Stage. He maintains a reserved demeanor, with a noted aversion to "stupid big-breasted women" and subtle affection for a female cousin.
