Genta Kojima, also known as George Kaminski in some English adaptations, is a student at Teitan Elementary School and a founding member of the Detective Boys. He is known for his larger physique and substantial appetite, often measuring the value of money by how many bowls of braised eel over rice it can buy. A suspected but unconfirmed shellfish allergy is also noted.
He frequently confuses similar-sounding Japanese words, especially those related to food, and has difficulty with common kanji characters. Though he claims leadership of the Detective Boys, the group tends to follow Conan Edogawa's deductions in practice. Genta's impulsive and bold actions sometimes lead the group into trouble, yet he remains a fundamentally kind, dependable, and deeply loyal friend.
His family consists of his father, Genji Kojima—owner of Kojima Liquors and a man embodying the "Child of Edo" spirit—his mother, and a grandmother. Genta holds his father in high esteem. He has a crush on fellow member Ayumi Yoshida and occasionally feels jealous when she pays attention to Conan, though this does not create serious rivalry with his friend Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya.
In the OVA "The Stranger from Ten Years Later," Genta appears as a seventeen-year-old high school student who has established a Detective Club at Teitan High School. This future version of Genta remains close with Ayumi and Mitsuhiko, displaying a personality consistent with his younger self.
Across manga, anime, films, and OVAs, Genta takes part in many Detective Boys adventures, appearing in both canonical and non-canonical stories. He contributes to the group’s dynamic through his comedic traits and unwavering loyalty.
