Fuyunyan, also known as Hovernyan in some media, is a blue cat Yo-kai. He features a white chest, muzzle, and paw tips, complemented by a dull pink nose and inner ears. A distinct white scar marks the center of his forehead. His heroic look includes a dull gray belt with a swirled sphere buckle and a long red cloth cloak. His design lacks a tail and shows a unique facial expression among cat Yo-kai.
He embodies a righteous and patient personality, consistently defending friends and pursuing what is right. However, Fuyunyan can lose focus during tasks and displays moments of childishness, like creating sound effects during introductions. He feels embarrassment about his transformed state, Dekanyan.
His primary abilities are flight and hand-to-hand combat, often augmenting his fists with energy or executing the wind-propelled "Gusty Forward Pawnch." Specific conditions trigger transformations:
* Exposure to excess air transforms him into **Meganyan**, a large, mushroom-covered blue cat. This form grants flight, enhanced strength, electrical attacks, and the power to enlarge objects by exhaling air. A cork on his rear releases the excess air to revert him.
* Empowerment by combined human and Yo-kai strength triggers his transformation into **Darknyan**, a black-furred form with fangs, yellow eyes, and a dark blue cape. This state offers enhanced combat capabilities, slicing "Nyaight Claws" attacks, and represents a faster, more powerful version of himself.
His history centers on film appearances. In his debut (Movie 1), he first appeared as Meganyan, inadvertently causing chaos by enlarging objects during his search for a chosen one to combat Wicked Yo-kai. After Nate freed him, he reverted to Fuyunyan and facilitated time travel to help defeat the antagonists. Later, he enabled a power-up for himself and Jibanyan to overcome a CGI monster.
In the third film, he investigated a dimensional shift caused by a flying whale that transformed Springdale into a live-action world. He advised Nate, traveled to the Yo-kai World to consult Lord Enma, and identified a human's darkness as the cause of the whale's disruptions. He also assisted in delivering the Enma Sword to combat the threat.
Fuyunyan shares close bonds with Nate and his ancestor Nathaniel, often referencing their shared admiration for the hero Moximus Mask. He collaborates with Jibanyan and Whisper, acknowledging their mutual embarrassment over heroic poses. His role is primarily confined to film narratives, with minimal appearances in the anime series outside of cameos.
