Description
Ulrich Kesler originated from the planet Kleingelt, familiar from youth with Vier and Aubend von Kleingelt, heirs to the local ruling family. By 793 UC, he served as a legal advocate within the Imperial Fleet before transferring to the Military Police for commander training. During this phase, he managed a case concerning a woman who desecrated portraits of Kaisers Rudolf and Friedrich IV. Kesler secured her classification as insane to avoid execution and arranged punishment for the neighbor who reported her without intervention, displaying legal ingenuity that later attracted Reinhard von Lohengramm's notice.

In June 794 UC, Captain Kesler received an assignment from Viscount Richard von Grimmelshausen to maintain order at a promotion celebration. There, he prevented Reinhard von Lohengramm from provoking a confrontation with Hermann von Lüneburg. Later that year, he personally delivered Grimmelshausen's compiled dossier of noble secrets to Reinhard at Iserlohn Fortress and reported the murder of Count Erich von Hartenburg. Conflicts with high-ranking officials led to his reassignment to a frontier post, though Reinhard promised future recall once gaining influence.

By 796 UC, Kesler held commodore rank and executed Reinhard's strategy to starve Alliance invasion forces by removing food supplies from border planets, including Kleingelt. He assured skeptical subordinates of Reinhard's commitment to imperial citizens' welfare. During the Imperial Civil War (797 UC), he commanded the fleet from the flagship *Forseti* against the Lippstadt League, marking his final frontline fleet command.

Following the civil war, in early 798 UC, Kesler replaced corrupt Admiral Oppenheimer as Military Police chief under Reinhard's reforms. He arrested Admiral Anton Hilmer von Schaft for bribery and monitored former Lippstadt officers arriving on Odin, unaware of their plot to kidnap Kaiser Erwin Josef II. After the kidnapping succeeded—a scheme Reinhard permitted—Kesler received a salary reduction and reprimand for the security lapse under his subordinate, Vice Admiral Molt.

Under the new Goldenlöwe Dynasty (from 799 UC), Kesler reformed the Military Police, purging corrupt officers and investigating the Terraist Church following their assassination attempt on Reinhard. He remained on Odin as capital defense commander during Operation Ragnarök and after the imperial capital relocated to Fezzan.

In 800 UC, at Fleet Admiral Cornelius Lutz's request, Kesler investigated Heydrich Lang, Chief of Internal Security. He uncovered Lang's conspiracy to murder prisoner Nikolas Boltik, providing evidence to Hildegard von Mariendorf. This intervention proved too late to save Lutz or prevent Oskar von Reuenthal's rebellion. Kesler enforced strict legal protocols, stopping Wolfgang Mittermeyer from murdering Lang before evidence presentation to Reinhard, though he utilized legal force against Terraist captives for intelligence gathering.

During a Terraist attack on the Imperial Residence in 801 UC, Kesler entered through a window under fire while his forces were pinned down. Armed only with a pistol, he protected Hildegard and Annerose von Grünewald until their evacuation. Later that year, he defended the provisional residence during Reinhard's final hours against another Terraist assault.

Kesler married Marika von Feuerbach, a friend of Hildegard, in 803 UC. He received a posthumous promotion to Fleet Admiral by Reinhard's deathbed recommendation.
