Ryo is Myon's fiancé, introduced during an encounter at her family's yakitori restaurant. When yakuza target Myon's father and the younger member Atsu threatens Myon with a gun while attempting to assault her, Ryo physically intervenes. Atsu overpowers Ryo during the confrontation, rendering him unconscious. As the assault on Myon continues, her call for Nishi redirects Atsu's attention. Ryo remains unconscious through subsequent events, including Nishi's initial death, resurrection, and violent retaliation against Atsu. Nishi, Myon, and Myon's sister Yan later escape using the yakuza's car, deliberately leaving both Myon's father and the still-unconscious Ryo behind.

The narrative concludes with a montage revisiting character histories, revealing subtle differences in earlier scenes. These imply Myon's path—and consequently her engagement to Ryo—diverges after the escape from the whale and the altered timeline in the film's closing moments.
