Description
Batako-san assists Uncle Jam at the bakery, managing baking activities. A critical duty involves crafting emergency replacement heads for Anpanman when his original head sustains damage or is depleted, which she throws to him during battles. She also repairs and maintains the flying capes used by Anpanman and other heroes.

Her kind, diligent, and caring nature extends to cleaning, laundry, and bread delivery. She shares a motherly bond with Anpanman, having witnessed his birth and participating in his upbringing alongside Uncle Jam. She similarly cares for Cheese, naming him, advocating for his place at the bakery, and frequently interpreting his barks.

Physically, Batako-san features rosy cheeks, black eyes, a small round nose, and spiky black hair that evolved to a shorter style during the series. She typically wears blue overalls over a white vest and a chef's hat covering her bangs; removing the hat reveals a bowl-cut hairstyle. Early concept art proposed an abandoned origin where a young Anpanman discovered her as a baby in the woods.

Batako-san appears among the featured characters in the animated short *Tsukikoto Shiratama〜Tokimeki Dancing〜*. Her relationships include positive, though less prominently detailed, connections with Bread Head Man (Shokupanman) and Currypanman. A past implied long-distance relationship with Omusubiman is noted.
