Description
Horrorman recurs throughout the Anpanman franchise as a skeleton clad in a long, tattered purple shirt. His shirt prominently displays crossed bones on the chest, matching his exposed cheekbones, kneecaps, and permanently visible teeth locked in a grin.
His personality is happy-go-lucky and clumsy. Horrorman frequently tries to scare others on purpose, but these attempts usually backfire. Conversely, he sometimes frightens people accidentally. Well-intentioned yet misguided, he is easily taken advantage of. While he often associates with antagonists like Baikinman, he doesn't consistently join their villainous schemes.
Horrorman exhibits a distinct obsession with Dokeen, repeatedly trying to impress her by gathering flowers or food, though these efforts typically fail. A key design element is his removable crossed bones, which function as boomerang weapons.
His origins remain ambiguous. Debuting in the "tobe Anpanman" comics, he later appeared in animation. His first animated role was in the 1991 film "Soreike! Anpanman Tobe Tobe Chibigon," where he served as Chibigon's mentor; however, this backstory is specific to that film and not referenced in the main series. The 2007 short "Horrorman to Hora Horako" suggested he was once a prince, but the narrative explicitly questions this claim, leaving his potential royal background unverified. He also appears in "Soreike! Anpanman: Kaiketsu Naganegiman to Doremi-Hime," though the film provides no additional character development or backstory for him.
