Dokin-chan debuted as a germ character in the 1975 picture book "Anpanman and Dokin Chan," later becoming a recurring presence in the "Anpanman" anime. She acts primarily as Baikinman's partner in mischief, serving as a secondary antagonist who usually avoids direct combat. Her design features an orange-red germ body with a white face, green eyes, small red cheeks and nose, pink shoes, white hands, a single antenna, and a long tail reminiscent of Mushibaikinman's. Her Japanese name blends "doki" (heartbeat sound), "baikin" (germ), and the affectionate suffix "-chan."
