Description
Dokin-chan is a major character and the secondary antagonist in the Soreike! Anpanman franchise. Physically, she is an orange-red germ with a distinctive white face featuring small red cheeks, green eyes, and an orange stripe that runs down to her nose. A single antenna curves backwards from the top of her head, and she possesses a long, arrow-shaped tail which has the special ability to make others’ hearts beat faster and raise their body temperature. She wears pink footwear and white hands, and unlike her partner Baikinman, she does not have wings on her back. Despite being a germ, she is notably clean and enjoys taking baths and cleaning her room.
Her personality is a mix of selfishness, childishness, greed, and demanding behavior. She frequently bosses Baikinman around within his own castle, ordering him to fetch food, items, or even capture people. Often, his schemes to cause trouble are born from his attempts to satisfy her whims. When fights start to turn against them, she is typically the first to flee. Despite these traits, she occasionally reveals underlying kindness, and she believes herself to be the prettiest girl in the world, displaying a touch of narcissism.
Dokin-chans most defining trait is her intense and unrequited romantic obsession with the heroic Shokupanman. This fixation began during their first encounter and drives her to take extreme measures to gain his affection, including setting elaborate traps and daydreaming about romantic scenarios with him. Her living space is filled with his posters and plush toys, and she is the only person she cares about harming, often scolding Baikinman for risking injury to him in a fight. This obsession creates a rivalry with her younger sister, Kokin-chan, who shares the same feelings for Shokupanman.
In her partnership with Baikinman, Dokin-chan acts as his accomplice in mischief, but their dynamic is complex. While she treats him like a servant and is often the cause of his troubles, she also shows subtle signs of care, such as giving him chocolate on Valentine’s Day or showing concern for his safety in dangerous situations. Her genuine feelings for him are masked by her outwardly rude and domineering attitude. He, in turn, harbors unrequited affection for her and complies with her demands despite her focus on another. A fellow resident of Baikinman’s castle is Horrorman, who is persistently but unsuccessfully obsessed with Dokin-chan himself.
Regarding abilities and equipment, Dokin-chan historically wielded a dual-pointed staff capable of enlarging or shrinking objects. Her primary mode of transportation is a distinctive pink UFO with yellow-tinted grasping appendages. While she typically uses it for non-combat tasks like transporting baskets or flowers, she sometimes employs it for taking hostages as part of Baikinman’s directives. She is also deeply interested in acting, consistently wanting to play the heroine whenever the topic comes up, and her performance skills have received praise. Additionally, she enjoys drawing and knitting, often creating artwork related to Shokupanman.
In the specific film Soreike! Anpanman: Kuroyukihime to motemote Baikinman, a princess named Kuroyukihime who is obsessed with the color black captures Baikinman after becoming infatuated with him. Working with him to spread darkness across the world, she turns everything black. In an atypical role reversal, Dokin-chan finds herself on the same side as the hero Anpanman. She is determined to put a stop to Kuroyukihimes antics and participates in efforts to rescue Baikinman from the princess, acting as part of the force working to restore balance and color to their world.
