Description
Dokin-chan is a germ character who appears as a secondary antagonist in the Soreike! Anpanman series, including the film Kokin-chan to Aoi Namida. She originated from Baikin Star and came to Earth, subsequently taking up residence in Baikinman's fortress, Baikin Castle. Her physical design features an orange-red body with a white face, green eyes, small red cheeks and nose, a single antenna, and a long tail. She typically wears pink shoes and has white hands.
Her personality is primarily defined by selfishness, greed, childishness, and demanding behavior. She often bosses around her partner Baikinman, commanding him to fetch food, items, or even capture people for her. Despite this domineering exterior, she can occasionally reveal an underlying capacity for kindness. When fights or schemes begin to go poorly, she is frequently the first to flee from danger rather than stand her ground.
A central and defining motivation for Dokin-chan is her intense romantic obsession with the heroic Shokupanman. This infatuation began when she first met him, and it drives much of her personal actions. Her living space is filled with posters and plush toys of Shokupanman, and she often indulges in daydreams about their imagined romantic relationship. Her affection for him is so strong that she is the only person besides herself she truly cares about harming, and she will often scold Baikinman for getting too close to hitting him during fights. Her romantic fixation can sometimes lead her to take extreme measures, such as attempting to cause minor injuries to him so she can then nurse him back to health.
In the story, Dokin-chan serves as the primary female partner and accomplice to the main antagonist Baikinman. Their dynamic is complex; while she is typically rude, manipulative, and constantly nags him, there are indications of a hidden, genuine care for him beneath her outward behavior. Her role in the specific film Kokin-chan to Aoi Namida is closely tied to the arrival of her younger sister, Kokin-chan, who comes to Earth from space to play. Kokin-chan shares Dokin-chan's romantic interest in Shokupanman, which creates a sibling dynamic that can swing between camaraderie and intense rivalry, especially when Kokin-chan annoins her older sister by taking her Shokupanman dolls.
Regarding her development, Dokin-chan maintains a consistent comedic role as a self-serving antagonist throughout the series. Historically, she wielded a specialized dual-pointed staff that could enlarge or shrink objects upon contact, but this tool saw limited use and was eventually phased out. Her notable abilities also include piloting a distinctive pink UFO with yellow-tinted hands. She primarily uses this vehicle for non-combat tasks like transportation or carrying items, although she has occasionally employed it to hold hostages as part of Baikinman's larger schemes.
