Description
Dokin-chan is a germ-based female character who appears as a major figure in Soreike! Anpanman: Shabondama no Purun. Originating from Bikin Star, she first journeyed to Earth after hearing rumors about her partner, Baikinman, and subsequently took up residence in his fortress, Bikin Castle. Her physical form is that of an orange-red germ, distinguished by a single antenna, a long tail, white hands, and pink footwear. Her face is primarily white, featuring green eyes, small red cheeks, and a distinctive orange stripe that runs continuously from the top of her head down to her nose.
In terms of personality, Dokin-chan is defined by her selfish, demanding, and greedy nature, often acting in a childish and capricious manner. She frequently bosses Baikinman around, commanding him to fetch food, items, or even capture people to satisfy her whims. However, this domineering exterior masks occasional flashes of genuine kindness and compassion, particularly towards those she cares about. The central motivation driving many of her actions, and a key aspect of her character, is an intense romantic infatuation with the heroic Shokupanman. This obsession, which began when they first met, is all-consuming; her living space is filled with posters and plush toys of him, and she often retreats into daydreams about their imagined relationship. In the film Shabondama no Purun, this combination of traits sees her act as a comedic secondary antagonist, where her self-serving motives and her fixation on Shokupanman continue to influence her behavior.
Within the narrative of Soreike! Anpanman: Shabondama no Purun, Dokin-chan serves as the secondary antagonist and primary accomplice to Baikinman. She participates in his schemes to disrupt the peace, specifically joining him and their associate Horrorman to invade Shabondama-hime's soap bubble castle. In keeping with her mischievous nature, she adopts disguises to aid in their infiltration and deploys malevolent bubbles to cause trouble. Her role is consistently that of a supportive, if often bossy, partner who helps execute plans but is also typically the first to flee when a confrontation with Anpanman takes a turn for the worse.
Her key relationships strongly define her role. The dynamic with Baikinman is a complex partnership; while she frequently orders him around and takes his food, she harbors a hidden, genuine care for him and has been known to give him chocolates on Valentine's Day. Her relationship with Shokupanman is defined by her unrequited love, making him the sole person whose well-being she consistently prioritizes, even scolding Baikinman for getting too close to him during a fight. She also has a younger sister, Kokin-chan, who shares her romantic interest in Shokupanman, leading to a sibling rivalry that oscillates between camaraderie and conflict.
Throughout the series and as seen in this film, Dokin-chan exhibits little to no significant character development, remaining a static figure whose core traits of selfishness, mischief, and romantic obsession are consistently portrayed. Her notable abilities include a talent for disguise, often using the alias Dokin-ko when transformed. While she historically wielded a dual-pointed staff capable of enlarging or shrinking objects, this tool was used only in early episodes and is not associated with her later appearances. Instead, her primary mode of transportation is a distinctive pink UFO with yellow accents, which she pilots for tasks ranging from carrying flowers and baskets to taking hostages and joining in Baikinman's missions. Although she is a germ, she has a fondness for cleanliness, enjoys taking baths, and has an appreciation for flowers and jewels.
