Description
Baikinman hatched from an egg arriving from Baikin Planet at the exact moment Anpanman was born. His existence is defined by a singular, sinister purpose: to defeat Anpanman. This core drive shapes his actions throughout all media appearances, including movies, TV episodes, and OVAs.

He manifests as an anthropomorphic demonic germ with a fly-like appearance. His distinct physical traits include a black furry frame, transparent fly wings, a zigzag tail, prominent large teeth, purple lips and nose, pink eyes, antennae, and a uniquely slimy blue tongue. Inspired by Beelzebub, the "Lord of the Flies," and personifying black bread mold, he stands as the natural adversary to Anpanman, whose head is bread.

His personality blends narcissism, impulsiveness, and gluttony. He frequently lavishes praise upon himself, constructs fortresses in his own image, and obsessively engineers mechanical inventions to sabotage Anpanman. Though he proclaims himself a being "who knows no love," he occasionally reveals unexpected depth, like expressing a wish for a normal life—a trait his creator, Takashi Yanase, attributed to his inescapable role as a born antagonist. He demonstrates notable resilience, consistently returning after defeats, undeterred in his mission.

His relationship with Anpanman remains fundamentally adversarial yet complex. While sworn enemies, Baikinman has hesitated in critical moments, such as saving Anpanman’s life in the 2018 movie "Shine! Kulun and the Stars of Life," though pride prevents any reconciliation. He harbors unrequited affection for Dokin-chan, enduring her bossiness despite her affection for Shokupanman. He also exhibits protectiveness toward Franken Robo Kun, a robot he created, despite its refusal to fight Anpanman.

The movie "Baikinman no Gyakushuu" exemplifies his relentless ambition. Baikinsennin informs him of the "Mekoisu no tsubo," a magical vase granting power to destroy Anpanman. Baikinman fiercely competes against Princess Yaada-hime, who seeks the vase to restore her kingdom, leading to a chase where Anpanman allies with the princess. This plot underscores Baikinman’s tireless pursuit of supremacy and his vulnerability when outmatched. His recurring weakness to soap—which shrinks him—and aversion to cleanliness frequently impede his schemes across episodes and films.

His broader narrative includes attempts to corrupt allies, such as infecting Rollpanna with bacteria grass to force her into villainy. However, her awareness and avoidance of Anpanman thwart his plans, highlighting strategic failures. Beyond the main series, his influence extends to parodies like Vaccine Man in "One Punch Man," cementing his cultural impact as a quintessential antagonist.
