He invents a protective suit designed to shield Ash from impacts during Volcanion's Steam Eruption attacks, but the suit fails catastrophically upon exposure to the acidic environment within Volcanion's cave. This malfunction leads to the pivotal discovery that Gulpin's acid dissolves the electromagnetic bands; Clemont implements this solution with Princess Kimia's aid to finally sever the connection between Ash and Volcanion. Clemont actively defends the Nebel Plateau Pokémon, helping repel a Pokémon hunter targeting an Amaura. Following the conflict's resolution, during the credits, Clemont utilizes his extendable Aipom arm invention to retrieve Bonnie after she attempts to propose to Princess Kimia's assistant on his behalf.
