Description
Rescued as a puppy floating downriver in a box by a kind elderly couple, the dog named "Dog" from the folktale "Hanasaka Jiisan" (The Old Man Who Made Flowers Bloom) is raised with care. Displaying profound loyalty and gratitude, the dog guides the old man to buried treasure by indicating a digging spot, bringing prosperity to the couple. Greedy neighbors later abduct the dog, attempting to force it to reveal wealth. Failing in their efforts, they kill the animal, suffering negative consequences as a result. Even after death, the dog's spirit continues to aid its original owners, guiding them toward further acts of kindness and eventual happiness. Rooted in the archetypal loyal animal helper of Japanese folklore, the dog's narrative serves as a moral lesson on compassion and integrity. The character appears solely within this singular tale, with no expanded appearances in other media, seasons, or spin-offs.
