Description
Takatoshi Tsuda serves as the central character, beginning as a first-year transfer student at Ousai Academy – a recently co-educational school formerly exclusive to female students. He selected Ousai for its proximity to home, despite acceptance into the more distant Eiryo High School requiring an uphill commute. On his very first day, he finds himself involuntarily appointed as the student council vice-president, becoming the sole male representative among a predominantly female student body.
Physically, Takatoshi stands taller than most peers, possessing a lean build and light brown eyes. His deep brown hair features distinctive side bangs and shorter bangs framing his forehead. He typically wears his school uniform and exhibits no consistent personal style in casual attire. Female students, including Ranko Hata, consider him attractive, though rumors of a relationship with Shino Amakusa deter overt approaches.
His personality balances complacency and diligence. Academically average compared to the student council members, he performs adequately when required but demonstrates notable skill in writing, having crafted a short story that moved readers to tears. He adapts witty retorts to counter frequent indecent jokes, particularly from Shino and Aria, honing this ability through constant exposure. Despite a generally laidback demeanor, he prioritizes responsibilities, especially council duties and managing household tasks for his sister, Kotomi. He assisted her studying for entrance exams and handles chores efficiently. However, he remains oblivious to romantic interest from multiple girls, earning the nickname "Flag-Crusher" from Chihiro Uomi for habitually missing or unintentionally sabotaging romantic cues.
Relationships define much of his experience. As Shino Amakusa's vice-president, he respects her leadership but remains wary of her perverted humor. Persistent rumors of their dating circulate, fueled by ambiguous moments like a movie scene where Shino, fearing his transfer, whispered something later clarified as non-romantic. With Aria Shichijō, he admires her talents yet endures her extreme innuendos, occasionally distracted by her physique. He shares a close, platonic bond with Suzu Hagimura; they communicate nonverbally, and she relies on him for emotional support, often holding his hand when frightened. Both Suzu and Mutsumi Mitsuba harbor implied romantic feelings, though he remains unaware. Mutsumi, his judo-club friend, openly crushes on him, yet he dismisses her invitations, citing altruism. He maintains a normalizing friendship with Kenji Yanagimoto, one of the few recurring male characters. Uomi, now a relative by marriage, frequently visits his home, leaving personal belongings there. His sister Kotomi shares his residence, and their tight-knit dynamic occasionally embarrasses him due to her suggestive comments. Other acquaintances include disciplinary committee president Kaede Igarashi, who tolerates his presence despite androphobia, and Nozomi Mori, with whom he shares innocently misinterpreted conversations.
Across all media, including OVAs and movies, his core traits remain consistent. He develops no romantic relationships, though scenarios like Shino’s movie whisper or Suzu’s dependence suggest potential undertones. His role as the straight man ("tsukkomi") stabilizes the council’s comedic dynamic, and his popularity stems from kindness and reliability. Notable details include his July birthday, past involvement in football, European football posters decorating his room, a nail-biting habit, and two fevers attributed to exhaustion from council duties and pervasive sexual humor.
