Description
Yotsuha Miyamizu, younger sister to Mitsuha Miyamizu, was born on July 2, 2004, to Toshiki and Futaba Miyamizu. Her early childhood fractured when her mother succumbed to illness. Abandoning his role as a Shinto priest for politics, her father left Yotsuha and Mitsuha to be raised by their grandmother, Hitoha Miyamizu, in rural Itomori. This upheaval fragmented her memories of her mother.

As a nine-year-old elementary student in 2013, Yotsuha actively upheld her family's Shinto traditions as a shrine maiden alongside her sister. Her duties included performing rituals like crafting kuchikamizake, sacred sake made from chewed and fermented rice. During this time, she frequently observed Mitsuha’s perplexing behaviors—such as touching her own breasts upon waking—unaware these stemmed from body-swapping with Taki Tachibana. Yotsuha voiced confusion and concern, attributing it to her sister "liking her boobs" or acting strangely.

Originally, Yotsuha perished in the Tiamat comet impact that devastated Itomori on October 4, 2013. Her death, recorded in casualty records later found by Taki, was averted when his actions forged an alternate timeline. In this reality, Mitsuha—guided by Taki’s consciousness—convinced their father, the town mayor, to evacuate Itomori. Yotsuha survived, last seen sheltering in her father’s office during the disaster.

After Itomori's destruction, Yotsuha relocated to Tokyo with her family. By 2022, she appeared as a 17- or 18-year-old high school student in standard uniform, retaining her signature pigtails though her hair had grown longer. Her exact Tokyo living situation remains unspecified, while Mitsuha lived independently. On April 8, 2022, Yotsuha contacted Mitsuha, urging a family visit and jokingly threatening to arrange a marriage interview if refused.

Yotsuha made a brief cameo in *Weathering with You* on August 22, 2021, among Tokyo citizens gazing skyward following prolonged rain, aligning with that film’s weather events.

Personality-wise, Yotsuha displayed level-headedness, independence, and maturity beyond her years. She routinely handled household chores and woke Mitsuha each morning. Despite her practicality, she retained age-appropriate cheerfulness and energetic curiosity. Mitsuha described her as generating "many, and at times, weird ideas." Viewing her sister as eccentric, Yotsuha maintained unwavering affection. She exhibited a carefree attitude toward Miyamizu traditions—termed a "pre-pubescent lack of concern" by Mitsuha—and occasionally found rituals like braiding cords tedious. Unlike her sister, she remained largely unaware of the complexities in Mitsuha’s strained relationship with their father, optimistically believing reconciliation simple.

Physically, Yotsuha had black hair typically styled in pigtails with distinct hairbands and brown eyes. As a child, she wore a blue T-shirt layered under an orange hoodie, paired with white shorts, pink knee-length stockings, and brown shoes. Her teenage appearance featured high school attire while maintaining her pigtail hairstyle.

Etymologically, her name "Yotsuha" (四葉) means "four leaves," continuing the Miyamizu botanical naming: grandmother Hitoha ("one leaf"), mother Futaba ("two leaves"), and sister Mitsuha ("three leaves"). The surname Miyamizu (宮水) combines "shrine" (宮) and "water" (水), reflecting the family’s sacerdotal heritage. The name can also be rendered "Yotsuba."
