Description
Ken Sakoda is a young man associated with the Ginsekai, a yakuza group, where he serves as an underling. He is a familiar face around the Mankai theater, often seen accompanying his boss, Sakyo Furuichi. Physically, Sakoda stands 174 centimeters tall and has a birthday on March 5th. He has blond hair with a dark undercut and chestnut brown eyes, and a small, X-shaped scar is located next to his right eye. His typical attire is loud and distinctive, consisting of a purple leopard-print jacket worn over a red t-shirt and belt, paired with black baggy pants and multiple gold chains.
Sakoda’s personality is vibrant, energetic, and marked by an intense, dog-like loyalty to Sakyo Furuichi, whom he always refers to as boss or aniki. He is fiercely devoted and sees himself as Sakyo’s number one fan and personal assistant, carrying out any task asked of him without hesitation. However, his eagerness can sometimes be excessive, leading to annoyance from his boss and occasionally causing secrets to be accidentally leaked. Despite his rough and intimidating exterior as a yakuza, he possesses a warm and caring heart, particularly towards those he considers friends.
Sakoda’s motivations are deeply rooted in loyalty and a sense of belonging. Before being taken in by Sakyo, he was a stray with nowhere to go. Sakyo brought him into the Ginsekai, giving him a purpose and a place to call home, which is why he remains unfailingly dedicated to him. This protective and supportive nature extends to others as well, such as when he helped Azami Izumida run away from his father and later defended Azami’s dream of becoming a makeup artist, even standing up to the yakuza boss in the process. It was during this event that it was revealed the boss had even considered Sakoda as a potential successor to lead the Ginsekai.
In the story, Sakoda is first introduced while assisting Sakyo in attempting to demolish the Mankai theater’s sign with a bulldozer. After Sakyo joins the Mankai Company, Sakoda becomes a frequent visitor to the theater and the dorms, helping out with errands and gradually integrating himself into the troupe’s extended family. His most significant relationships are with Sakyo Furuichi, his revered boss and mentor, and Azami Izumida, whom he views as a younger brother. He shares a close, brotherly bond with Azami and is often caught in the middle of playful conflicts when both Sakyo and Azami try to give him orders. Interestingly, while he struggles with academic basics, Sakoda has developed several notable abilities. He is highly proficient in operating heavy machinery, especially excavators, and he takes pride in this skill. He is also good at playing pachinko, has a talent for calligraphy which he studied as a child, and his handwriting is noted to be very nice.
