Description
Wakaba Fujimiya is a green-haired teenager sporting a curtained cut with spiky bangs and straight strands reaching her neck, complemented by blue tareme eyes. She stands 152 cm tall, weighs 49 kg, with measurements of 88-61-89 cm, and is frequently seen in her school uniform accessorized with a beret, glasses, and hair ribbons.
Biologically the daughter of Professor Akihito Narukaze and an unnamed mother, she is the younger sister of Minamo Narukaze and Hinata Okano. Following her biological family's move away from Kazune City, she was adopted into the Fujimiya family, becoming the adoptive younger sister of Nozomi Fujimiya and separating from Minamo and Hinata during childhood.
Wakaba possesses supernatural healing abilities, capable of mending injuries and slowing disease progression, alongside weak clairvoyance granting limited foresight. She regularly uses her healing power to stabilize Nozomi's chronic heart condition, especially after kendo overexertion or health-related collapses.
Her personality is defined by altruism, kindness, and protectiveness, often prioritizing others above herself. She enjoys cooking, playing volleyball, and works as a waitress with Nozomi at the café "One Day". Despite a mature demeanor, deep-seated insecurities stemming from childhood bullying—where she was labeled an "unwanted child"—fuel her intense devotion to the Fujimiya family for adopting her.
Her relationship with Nozomi is central. Feeling indebted to Nozomi, who defended her from bullies and became her protector, Wakaba struggles with mutual guilt: she fears her need for protection restricts Nozomi's freedom, while Nozomi feels her health burdens Wakaba. This tension peaks when Wakaba deliberately interrupts Nozomi's attempt to confess romantic feelings to Makoto Okano, fearing it would disrupt their sisterly bond.
A critical incident involves a stalker assaulting Wakaba while she walked with Makoto Okano; the assailant groped her until Makoto intervened. Wakaba then healed Makoto's resulting head injury. Later, she becomes a target of Hikari Tsukishiro, who attacks her with a katana, leading to hospitalization and intensifying Nozomi's protectiveness.
Her character arc focuses on reconciling her desire to heal Nozomi with her fear of being a burden, culminating in the realization that her presence might stifle Nozomi's independence. She seeks a balance between reliance and self-sufficiency. After Hikari's demise, supernatural phenomena in town cease and memories fade. Following Nozomi's successful heart surgery, Wakaba no longer needs to constantly heal her, allowing a transition towards a more ordinary life.
