Description
Sōjirō Ayanokōji, the second eldest of the Ayanokōji family, stands out with a muscular frame marked by scars, including a prominent X-shaped cut across his face. His light blue hair and piercing blue eyes contrast his tanned skin, while his attire—a long dark purple coat, white open undershirt, and black pants—adds to his striking presence. Though physically imposing, he carries himself with calm introspection, a counterbalance to his siblings’ tempestuous natures.
Once commanding the Morality Enforcement Squad, he severed ties after uncovering their torture and experimentation on Tarlotte, an Absolute Angel. Defying his former allies, he freed her, setting the foundation for their fraught bond. When his brother Kazuya abducts Tarlotte and other Angels, Sōjirō reluctantly allies with the Squad to save them, accepting Jin Ōgami’s demand to reclaim his commander role despite his prior status as a fugitive.
Tarlotte’s frequent hostility does little to deter his vigilance over her safety. He sustains her with energy-sharing kisses during her post-battle collapses, enduring her violent rejections. His steadfast care for her and other Angels reflects an empathy starkly absent in his siblings’ calculated or indifferent dealings.
Tensions define his family ties. He brands Kazuya a monster for exploiting Angels, collaborates with initially hostile younger brother Kyoshiro to thwart Kazuya’s schemes, and disapproves of sister Mika’s penchant for torture. Post-conflict, he upholds his pact with Jin, returning to lead the Squad while guiding Tarlotte’s integration into human society through kanji lessons. His choices consistently reflect a resolve to shield the vulnerable and temper the chaos wrought by his kin.
