Description
Page Klaus is a major supporting character in the anime Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation. He is a veteran magic lawyer and one of the Four Sages of the Magic Law Association, the circle of leading figures within the organization. Known by the nickname Old Pei, he is a large, elderly man who is regarded throughout the magic law world as a legendary executor, often called the strongest executor of his era. At the point where he becomes centrally involved in the story, he holds the post of head of the association's investigation headquarters and also works as a judge, and he later assumes directorships over the Magic Law Academy, the investigation department, and the Magic Law Association itself.
In personality, Page Klaus normally comes across as relaxed and soft-spoken, with a mild and easygoing manner. Beneath this gentle surface, however, he is described as bold, fierce, and strict in his conduct, while also possessing a caring and dependable side that leads him to look after those under his guidance. He is one of the more principled figures within an association that has become a breeding ground for corruption, and this integrity causes him considerable difficulty, including a general distrust and dislike of many of his fellow association members. His personal tastes include reciting poetry, a skill he is said to sometimes use when courting women, and he enjoys attending ballet and theater performances.
Within the story, Page Klaus plays an important part as the teacher of both Muhyo and Enchu and as the superior of Yoichi, whom he also precedes as a judge. His mentorship of the younger generation of magic lawyers places him at the center of their development, even as his position within the association leaves him caught between official duty and his own sense of right and wrong. His motivations are shaped largely by his commitment to maintaining proper standards within the magic law system despite the institutional decay around him.
His development is reflected in his growing institutional responsibilities. After serving as head of the investigation headquarters, he goes on to take up directorships at the Magic Law Academy, within the investigation department, and on the association's board of directors, a rise that shows the trust placed in him as a steady and capable leader.
As for abilities, Page Klaus is celebrated as a legendary executor, widely considered the strongest in the magic law world. His reputation rests on his mastery of carrying out judgment on spirits through magic law, and his seat among the Four Sages marks him as one of the most accomplished and respected magic lawyers in the association.
