Description
Takeshi Tsujii is a 9-dan professional shogi player who has held Class A status for eight consecutive years, reflecting sustained competitive excellence. His handsome appearance frequently clashes with his conduct, earning him labels like "disappointing handsome man" or "waste of good looks" due to attention-seeking behaviors such as concealing influenza to referee televised matches.

Driven by a need for the spotlight, he habitually engages in wordplay, often delivering notably poor puns. His shogi performance exhibits extreme inconsistency, oscillating between "good Takeshi Tsujii days" and "bad Takeshi Tsujii days." During peak form, his intense concentration silences his puns, unleashing exceptional skill capable of defeating elite players like Tōji Sōya under ideal conditions.

He lost to Rei Kiriyama in the 20th Shishiou Tournament quarterfinals but achieved a perfect victory over Kiriyama in the Toyo Newspaper Company Open Tournament during one such "good day." His public antics sometimes create awkwardness, exemplified by his exclamation "Love Me Tendo" at a Tendo City event, which unsettled attendees.
