Description
Char Aznable, originally named Casval Rem Deikun, is the son of Zeon Zum Deikun, a political visionary championing Spacenoid independence. After his father’s assassination—suspected to be orchestrated by the rival Zabi family—Casval and his sister Artesia escaped to Earth under the false identity of Édouard Mass, protected by loyalists such as Jimba Ral. Surviving subsequent Zabi assassination attempts, he assumed the name of a deceased comrade, Char Aznable, to infiltrate the Zeon military academy and exact retribution.

Rapidly ascending through military ranks, Char gained renown as the "Red Comet" for his unmatched mobile suit skills, particularly during the One Year War’s Battle of Loum, where he obliterated five Federation battleships. His rivalry with Amuro Ray, pilot of the RX-78-2 Gundam, ignited during clashes over the White Base, escalating into a decades-long ideological duel. Char covertly engineered the demise of Garma Zabi to destabilize the Zabi dynasty, later collaborating with Kycilia Zabi’s faction while surreptitiously advancing his vendetta.

Rescuing Newtype prodigy Lalah Sune from exploitation solidified his conviction in Newtypes as humanity’s evolutionary vanguard. Lalah’s fatal intervention in a battle between Char and Amuro deepened their mutual hatred, with Char holding Amuro responsible. Post-war, Char vanished, resurfacing under the alias Quattro Bajeena in *Zeta Gundam* to join the AEUG’s fight against the Titans’ oppression—a phase marked by overt advocacy for Spacenoid liberation, albeit through calculated stratagems.

By *Char’s Counterattack*, he abandoned diplomacy, leading Neo Zeon in a radical gambit to hurl asteroid Axis at Earth, inducing nuclear winter to compel mass space migration. This scheme stemmed from disillusionment with Earth Federation corruption and his belief in extreme catalysts for Newtype ascension. His MSN-04 Sazabi, equipped with psycho-frame technology, was designed to parallel Amuro’s RX-93 ν Gundam, ensuring an equitable final showdown.

Char’s manipulation of Quess Paraya, an unstable Newtype adolescent, exemplified his readiness to sacrifice others for his vision. Her spiral into madness and demise during the Axis crisis underscored the collateral damage of his ideology. His climactic duel with Amuro within the falling Axis culminated in their mutual deployment of psycho-frames to stall the catastrophe, their physical fates left unresolved as their clash of philosophies echoed beyond the battlefield.

Throughout his life, Char cycled through identities—avenging heir, revolutionary soldier, radical messiah—each phase driven by intertwined ideals of Newtype destiny, personal trauma, and nihilistic resolve. His legacy intertwines utopian aspiration with ruthless pragmatism, betrayal, and violence, encapsulating the paradox of a visionary perpetually ensnared by his own shadows.
