Description
Umi Ryuuzaki, the only child of a wealthy Tokyo family, developed a somewhat spoiled upbringing that surfaces as initial short temper and skepticism. She possesses a model-like appearance: flowing silver-blue hair, blue eyes, and a tall stature, frequently seen in her school uniform—a blue jacket, white blouse, orange necktie, and light blue skirt.

Transported to Cephiro during a Tokyo Tower school trip, she reluctantly accepts becoming the Magic Knight of Water only after an attack by Zagato's minion Alcyone forces urgency. Beneath a blunt, outspoken exterior lies deep loyalty and fierce protectiveness towards friends Hikaru and Fuu, for whom she risks her life. This defining protectiveness manifests when she prioritizes aiding them over completing her Rune-God trial, proving her worth to the water deity Ceres and awakening her Rune-God Selece.

Her water-aligned combat style is controlled and fluid. Initially wielding a standard rapier due to her fencing background, she later gains the Escudo rapier, which melts into water if touched by others. A key offensive ability, the "Water Dragon" magic, emerges from desperate need to protect Hikaru. Her armor evolves: beginning as sapphire-lined white and gold gear, it advances to a black leotard with blue armor and cape.

Character development marks her journey. Early obsession with returning to Tokyo for a fencing tournament fades as she commits to saving Cephiro, solidified after overcoming a self-created illusion upon hearing Hikaru's cries for help. Following Emeraude's death, she returns to Earth burdened by guilt, often spacing out until reuniting with Hikaru and Fuu at Tokyo Tower draws her back to Cephiro. In the second season, she confronts invading forces, particularly Chizeta's rulers Tatra and Tarta, transforming rivalry into mutual respect through combat. She initially rebukes Ascot for exploiting his beasts; later interactions involve navigating his romantic feelings while she harbors unnoticed interest in Guru Clef, remaining emotionally unaware.

A core vulnerability is her fear of isolation, contrasting her battlefield calm. Despite maturation, she retains impulsive speech and tsundere traits, denying her altruistic deeds when acknowledged. Her arc concludes with aiding Cephiro's liberation from the Pillar system, emphasizing collective over individual responsibility.
