Description
Am Chouno (蝶野 アム), meaning "Butterfly field" and "gadfly," is a central character in Cardfight!! Vanguard G, appearing across GIRS Crisis and Stride Gate-hen. Her birthday is June 2. With short blue hair styled like a butterfly, red eyes, and butterfly-themed accessories, she performs as one-half of the idol unit Rummy Labyrinth alongside Luna Yumizuki at Vanguard Association events like G Quest announcements. She alternates between a blue/black frilled idol dress, casual orange jacket and white skirt, and a pink wig/baseball cap/hoodie disguise for her alias "Ace."

A tragic winter incident leaving her parents comatose fuels her actions. She treasures a mitten from that event as a symbol of her burden. To fund their treatment and seek a way to revive them, she joins the clandestine Company as Ace. In this role, she orchestrates the hostile takeover of Shion Kiba's family corporation by coercing his uncle and defeating Shion in a high-stakes Pack Fight, triggering his mental breakdown.

Initially distant and driven, Am prioritizes idol duties and Company missions over personal connections, straining relationships. As Ace, she displays arrogance, openly despising Shion's privilege. Her character evolves through her bond with Luna, whom she shields from the Company. Learning Luna would be sacrificed as a "Peacemaker" – a role involving painful summoning and control of units from Cray – Am rebels, resulting in her dismissal from the Company.

Her development continues as she forms genuine friendships with Tokoha Anjou and others, gradually opening emotionally. During the Dark Zone Branch Quest, she fights Shion again to prove her worth to Ryuzu Myoujin after an earlier defeat, confirming her identity as Ace and taunting him about Ryuzu's plans. In Stride Gate-hen, she challenges Satoru Enishi to a Cardfight for Luna's freedom, opposing the Company despite his manipulation regarding her parents. Losing this fight and witnessing Luna fall comatose due to Stride Force experimentation causes Am to break down in guilt and remorse. These events lead her to join Plan G seeking redemption.

As a cardfighter, she wields a Granblue clan deck featuring "Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose" as her ace unit, alongside Pirate Swordsman Colombard, Commodore Blueblood, Rough Seas Banshee, and Reef Banshee. Her fighting record includes losses against Shion Kiba and Saki Tagushi, and a win against Kazuma Shouji. Am's journey spans manipulated antagonist to remorseful ally, driven by familial devotion, moral conflict, and eventual atonement.
