OVA
Description
Yayoi Takatsuki is a 14-year-old idol with 765 Production, hailing from Saitama. She possesses extreme energy, unshakeable optimism, and hyperactivity, traits ideal for her idol career. Yet, she consistently struggles with volume control, drawing reprimands at school. Her academic performance suffers due to these behavioral issues and a lack of focus on studies.

As the eldest of five children, Yayoi lives with her parents and four younger siblings. Financial instability, caused by her father's unreliable employment, results in modest living conditions. She wears simple, often baggy clothing and resides in a small home where she shares sleeping space. Yayoi shoulders significant household duties, cooking breakfast and dinner for her siblings and assisting with chores. She shares a close bond with her younger sister Kasumi and acts protectively towards all her siblings, frequently playing baseball with them in her free time.

Financially conscious to the point of anxiety, Yayoi practices extreme frugality. Even minor spending she deems wasteful can trigger severe regret, sometimes causing her to withdraw for days. She occasionally requests loans from the Producer and searches for spare change near vending machines. To help her family, she performs cleaning and miscellaneous tasks at 765 Production, maintaining this diligence even after achieving idol success. Despite her aversion to personal spending, she enjoys eating and often takes extra portions, though she shares food generously.

Her hobbies and skills include playing Othello, baseball, home vegetable gardening, and saving money. Yayoi possesses exceptional stamina, allowing her to dance for extended periods without breaks. She is notably skilled at arm-wrestling, capable of defeating male peers, and has keen eyesight. However, she harbors intense acrophobia, reacting with panic in high-elevation situations.

Visually, Yayoi sports long reddish-brown hair typically styled in twintails secured with multicolored scrunchies. She commonly wears a long-sleeved orange shirt, a denim skirt, and a frog-shaped wallet named "Berochoro" around her neck. Later game designs refine details like adding plaid accents to jackets while retaining these core elements.

Yayoi deeply values helping others and expresses a wish for an older brother figure for emotional support. She maintains a close friendship with Iori Minase. During interactions with the Producer, she consciously restrains her voice to avoid scolding. Rarely, she displays intense anger, particularly toward Hibiki Ganaha or her younger brother.

In the Xenoglossia spin-off, Yayoi is reimagined as a 15-year-old radio host in Tokyo, voiced by a different actor. This version presents a more mature and occasionally violent personality, serving as Haruka Amami’s childhood friend. She hosts "Yayoi-Style Radio," frequently appears in a penguin costume, and remains largely unaware of Haruka’s idol activities.

Beyond the main series, Takatsuki City in Osaka appointed Yayoi as a tourism ambassador in 2022, leveraging name affinity with the city and its Yayoi-period archaeological site. A life-size cutout was displayed at the Ama site park, with events planned for her March 25th birthday. Fans historically celebrated her birthday at the restaurant chain Yayoiken, which later held official collaborations referencing her preference for bean sprouts.
