Hohma attends Naranja Academy in Paldea as one of three main protagonists. A member of the journalism club, he persistently seeks compelling stories for the school newspaper but struggles to identify resonant topics. Initial attempts, like chronicling his friend Aliquis's repeated losses to trainer Nemona, fail to engage peers.

Director Clavell assigns Hohma, Ohara, and Aliquis a group project to create an introductory video for new students. During brainstorming, Hohma proposes featuring the renegade Team Star, leading him to infiltrate their battle-focused Caph Squad. To prove loyalty, he mimics Team Star’s star pose and is escorted to their base by member Carmen. There, he photographs their Starmobile vehicles—deemed their secret weapon—but Caph Squad leader Eri and her Annihilape intercept him.

As part of his infiltration, Hohma endures Team Star’s physical training. Exhausted from repeatedly practicing their pose, he triggers his partner Quaxly’s evolution into Quaxwell. The moment shatters when a Squawkabilly accidentally provokes a Starmobile (Revavroom) into rampage. Witnessing Eri risk herself to calm it with a Lum Berry, Hohma realizes Team Star prioritizes mutual protection over delinquency. He deletes all Starmobile photos, abandoning the exposé, yet laments his ongoing lack of journalistic impact.

Returning to the academy, Hohma refocuses on the video project. He suggests creating viral content featuring Paldea notables like Gym Leader Iono or Elite Four members, alongside highlighting regional educational opportunities such as the Treasure Hunt. His proposals unify the group’s vision.

His partner Quaxly evolves into Quaxwell during the infiltration. Post-evolution, Quaxwell masters dancing—a skill it previously struggled with—and performs an elegant routine to uplift Hohma after his failed article venture.
