Rocko appears in two distinct contexts within the Pokémon anime franchise.
In the *Pocket Monsters: Diamond & Pearl Tokubetsu-hen* TV special, Rocko is the Japanese name for Brock (Takeshi). After parting ways with Ash, he returns to Vertania City to reunite with his family. His younger brother Forrest has been acting as gym leader in his absence. The special’s second episode features Rocko confronting a challenge when a Pokémon Inspector threatens to revoke the gym’s license over operational concerns. Rocko collaborates with Forrest to demonstrate the gym’s legitimacy and prevent its closure.
A separate character named Rocko appears in *Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova and Beyond*. He is the younger twin brother of Soren, with the brothers declaring themselves masters of ground and sky, respectively. Rocko specializes in ground-type Pokémon, primarily commanding Drilbur as his "earth warrior." The brothers encounter Ash and Cilan en route to the Unova League and challenge them to a tag battle. During the fight, Rocko’s Drilbur and Soren’s Braviary execute combination moves including Hole Bird (Brave Bird + Dig), Random Rock (Fury Attack + Rock Slide), Aerial Claw (Aerial Ace + Metal Claw), and Drill Wing (Wing Attack + Drill Run). After losing, Rocko and Soren blame each other until Cilan suggests diversifying their teams. Acting on this advice, Rocko catches a Corphish to complement his ground-type specialization. The brothers then resume training to develop new combination strategies with their expanded team.
