Description
Rekka Tatsunagi, the youngest sister of Kourin and Suiko Tatsunagi, forms Team Ultra-Rare with them. She works alongside her sisters operating the card shop PSY under the Tatsunagi financial group umbrella; her surname fuses "standing" (立) and "calm, lull" (凪). Introduced as enthusiastic and bubbly, she greets PSY customers cheerfully, often handling tasks like serving coffee. Her personality contrasts with her sisters through straightforwardness and pride in her cardfighting skills. She uses distinctive battle phrases such as "Super Cute Ride" or "Love Love Ride," a style later adopted by characters like Mai Tobita and Emi Sendou.
In Season 2, she battles Misaki Tokura using an Angel Feather deck focused on damage-swap tactics and healing. This deck employs units like Circular Saw, Kiriel and Crimson Impact, Metatron, leveraging superior ride mechanics and soul-charging strategies to retrieve cards from the damage zone. She initially defeats Misaki but loses their VF Circuit rematch. Season 3 sees her enroll at Fukuhara Middle School and join Emi and Mai's cardfight club. Struggling to fit in due to her idol status, she eventually befriends them. Later Reversed—a state of psychological manipulation—she kidnaps Emi and Mai. Under this influence, she rejects friendship and commands reversed cardfighters as fanatical followers. Kamui Katsuragi defeats her in a cardfight, breaking the reversal. This confrontation reveals she kidnapped her friends to protect them, acknowledging Emi and Mai as her closest companions since founding the club.
Within the V Series continuity, Rekka is a pop idol in Ultra-Rare and a tertiary antagonist. Forced into becoming a PSYqualia Zombie, she manipulates others, turning cardfighters like Kyou Yahagi and Shingo Komoi into similar zombies under her control. Her actions include toying with Ren Suzugamori and Tetsu Shinjou after losing to Ren. Ren ultimately frees her, but she is identified as a Called Walker, resulting in her erasure from everyone's memories.
Her appearance features orange hair styled in curling twintails, blue eyes (occasionally noted as purple), and a petite stature. She wears either the Ultra-Rare idol uniform or her Fukuhara school attire.
