Kurata features solely in the "Evil Town" storyline of the "Violence Jack" franchise. This heavyset man inhabits a subterranean metropolis built within a sunken shopping mall. Following the apocalyptic disaster, the society splits into three factions: Section A, Section B, and Section C (formed by supermodels). Kurata initially belongs to Section A. His participation in molesting women directly contributes to the formation of the separate Section C group.

Later, Kurata and an associate named Kinichi steal a large ham. Kawamori catches them. During their escape attempt, Kinichi is killed. Seeking refuge, Kurata takes the stolen ham to Section B as a peace offering. His attempt to join Section B fails; members violently assault him, and the faction leader, Mad Saulus, subsequently kills him.

The manga portrayal diverges. In this version, Kinichi is absent during the ham theft. Following the theft, a woman wearing a leather bikini or underwear beats Kurata. He then flees back to Section A, an event occurring after Violence Jack's release from confinement. Kurata's presence or role is confined to the "Evil Town" narrative.
