Description
Basara Akagiyama sports spiky silver hair and a scar on his left cheek, which he habitually touches. His speed motorist attire reflects his passion for high-velocity vehicles. Raised without a mother, he idolized his father, Jigoro Akagiyama, a renowned motorbike racing champion. Jigoro's death during a sabotaged race, compounded by delayed medical aid, shattered Basara's worldview, fueling an obsession with speed and recklessness. He inherited Jigoro's treasured red motorbike—later destroyed by the Duema Land President—which could glide on water and briefly manifested as the creature spirit Redzone, Roaring Invasion during a confrontation with his father's killer.

Once cheerful, Basara's trauma drove him to underground motorcycle racing and dueling, pursuits he deemed equally competitive. He bonded with the mechanic Number 2, who repaired Jigoro's bike and shared his dream of a "World of Zero" (a world without speed limits). Together, they founded the "Rare Killers," an organization dedicated to stealing rare cards. Basara earned the moniker "Red Comet" for his rapid dueling style, often winning in three turns, and exhibited impulsiveness, such as kidnapping rival duelist Katta Kirifuda.

His descent accelerated upon obtaining the sealed card "Forbidden," housing the malevolent spirit Dokindam X. Unsealing it in Antarctica—guided by the spirit—and defeating the frozen duelist Zakira granted him "Dokindam X, The Legendary Forbidden." Progressive possession manifested physical changes: elongated hair, an 'X' mark on his hands, glowing forbidden characters on his arms, and bandages restraining the spirit's power. His personality darkened, mirroring Zakira's ruthlessness as he sought to demolish all speed limits, comparing himself to gods. Further mutations buffed his muscles and transformed his right hand into a black skeletal claw. He grew calmer yet more destructive, relying on Number 2 for strategy while leading the Rare Killers to feed Dokindam X rare cards, augmenting its power.

As Dokindam X evolved into "FORBIDDEN ~Star of Forbidden~," Basara's mutations intensified: his clothing altered, his right arm grotesquely mutated, and his insanity deepened. He aimed to reduce the world to "ZERO," discarding all value for human life. This culminated in "Dormageddon X, Forbidden Armageddon," consuming his humanity entirely. He attacked former allies Hakase and Rambo, killed Kojiro during a duel, and stabbed Number 2 during a confrontation. His final form, visible from space, displayed both arms mutated as he pursued a nihilistic goal to destroy Earth. Duelists "destroyed" by Dormageddon X were later revealed trapped in a void subspace.

Following defeat by Katta Kirifuda and Team Hamukatsu—who used teamwork spells to bypass Dormageddon X's sealing—Basara regained his humanity. He reconciled with his father's final message, delivered via a trophy entrusted to Leo Hyakujuu, acknowledging Jigoro would not have endorsed his path. He reformed, restoring ties with the Rare Killers (some joining his racing crew) and assisting Joe Kirifuda as repayment to Katta. Despite lingering guilt, he embraced Katta's philosophy of self-determination and solidarity, becoming a Motorbike Grand Prix champion like Jigoro. This redemption underscored his return to human values and rejection of destructive ambitions.
