Description
Himari Uehara is a third-year student at Haneoka Girls Academy who serves as the bassist and leader of the band Afterglow. She has a cheerful and good-natured personality that helps brighten the mood wherever she goes, and she acts as the band's primary coordinator. Her enthusiasm is genuine and infectious, though her efforts sometimes miss the mark due to a slight difficulty in reading the atmosphere of a situation. Emotionally sensitive and romantic at heart, Himari is easily moved to tears by touching stories or sentimental episodes.
As the leader of Afterglow, Himari is responsible for final decisions and guiding the band's direction, though she prefers to make choices together with all members rather than imposing her own will. Her leadership style is more about being the emotional core and cheerleader of the group, always rallying everyone with her characteristic call of "Hey, hey, ooh~!" even if her bandmates often playfully reject joining in. Despite their teasing, the other members of Afterglow support her in their own ways, recognizing her as the glue that holds them together. The band originally formed during middle school among childhood friends who wanted to stay together, with Himari providing much of the emotional cohesion.
Beyond Afterglow, Himari maintains several meaningful friendships. She is close friends with Rimi from the band Poppin'Party, as they attend the same cram school and share interests such as a love for sweets and being fans of Kaoru Seta. Through events like the Happy Summer Vacation, she also became close friends with Aya and Lisa due to their similar personalities and shared interests. She is a huge fan of Kaoru Seta from Hello, Happy World. Within her own band, she shares a particularly teasing dynamic with Moca Aoba, who often jokes about Himari's concerns regarding her weight, a topic Himari is sensitive about since Moca does not gain weight easily. She frequently visits Hazawa Coffee to confide in her bandmate Tsugumi after hours.
Himari has a strong interest in fashion and loves keeping up with the latest trends, though she also secretly wants to be perceived as cool by others. She enjoys cute things like stuffed animals and fashionable clothing. A self-described sweet tooth, her favorite foods include chocolate and convenience store sweets, and her hobby is comparing sweets from different convenience stores. She dislikes shiitake mushrooms. She works part-time at a fast-food restaurant and is a member of the school tennis club.
In terms of abilities, Himari plays a Fender American Vintage 74 Jazz Bass, a discontinued and rare model. She also possesses hidden talents such as sewing, having made handmade lucky charms for each member of Afterglow that they cherish and keep attached to their instrument cases. She is skilled at making sweets and often bakes cookies for her bandmates. She has an older sister who is said to be quite terrifying when angered, and she is prone to getting seasick easily.
