Description
Arisa Ichigaya is a third-year student at Hanasakigawa Girls' High School and serves as the student council vice president. She plays keyboard for the band Poppin'Party. Her family operates Ryuuseidou, a traditional pawnshop housed in a large, traditional building with a basement where Poppin'Party often rehearses. Kasumi Toyama discovered the Random Star guitar at this shop. Arisa lives with her grandmother, and they seldom celebrate Christmas together. Her rarely mentioned father passed away, leaving behind the Random Star guitar and a notebook titled "BanG_Dream!"; this notebook contained band formation plans reflecting his own history as a band leader.
Arisa possesses long, slightly curled blonde hair typically styled in two pigtails secured with ribbons or bands. Her bangs mostly cover her forehead, with a few curled strands sticking up, and her forelocks are held back by cross-shaped clips. Her eyes are light brown. Her fashion sense is mature and feminine, frequently incorporating lace, floral details, and long skirts. Her initial outfit features a black blouse with sheer off-the-shoulder sleeves paired with a white skirt adorned with lilac floral patterns. In winter, she wears a black sweater with a white lace overlay, a light-brown high-waisted skirt, black tights, white pom-pom hair ties, and a four-flower necklace. Her summer attire consists of a sleeveless white-and-black striped shirt, a yellow high-waisted skirt with a belt, and black ballerina shoes with white ankle socks, accessorized with a small necklace featuring a red ribbon. She stands at 152 cm tall, the same height as Chisato and Hagumi.
Personality-wise, Arisa is introverted, self-describing as lazy and a shut-in. Her hobbies include tending to bonsai trees—which she names, such as Tamagawa, Tonegawa, and Popipa—and browsing the internet. Despite her indoor tendencies, she achieves excellent academic results. She is moody and hot-headed, often arguing, particularly with Kasumi, stemming from struggles with self-honesty. Compliments, especially from bandmates, cause her to blush, stammer, or even flee, as seen when Rei praised her talent during music school. Though she denies it, she experiences loneliness easily. She was once a loner insisting on self-reliance, but meeting Kasumi gradually revealed a kinder side and improved her social skills. Bandmates frequently tease her affectionately, sometimes frustrating her. Initially, to maintain a refined rich girl image, she used exaggeratedly polite language with acquaintances like Eve and Misaki. This contrasts with her original manga portrayal where she was more outgoing and orchestrated events to boost Kasumi's confidence.
Her character development centers on relationships and band involvement. She learned piano as a child at the same music school as Tae and Rei but quit due to waning motivation and middle school exam pressures. She resumed playing to join Poppin'Party after Kasumi inspired her. Her growth shows increasing openness: early rumors labeled her a "ghost" due to frequent absences, but band and council duties helped her socialize. She exhibits tsundere traits, masking affection for Kasumi with coldness—evidenced by jealousy when Kasumi invited Rimi to Ryuuseidou or spent time with Tae. Her solo song "Su-Suki Nanka Janai!" heavily implies feelings for Kasumi. Physical affection causes panic or blushing, like when Kasumi hugged her after their first Live House Space performance or in game cards depicting embraces from Eve or Lisa. During conflicts, such as the band drifting apart in the "Double Rainbow" story, she initially withdraws but reconciles through shared effort.
She dislikes foods containing leeks and favors anmitsu, brown rice, and hard-boiled eggs. She tends to overpack for trips, always including a favorite fluffy towel. Other trivia includes her inability to recognize Wanibe Nanana without glasses and her character design being adapted for Shirai Kuroko in a *A Certain Scientific Railgun T* collaboration.
