Description
Kazuma, a Native Alter user from the Lost Ground—a region scarred by devastating geological upheaval—possesses evolving abilities marked by three stages. His base form, Shell Bullet, morphs his right arm into a metallic alloy cannon unleashing high-impact energy waves. Contact with The Crystal, an entity from a parallel dimension, unlocks Ultimate Shell Bullet, granting flight and energy-draining capabilities. The pinnacle, Proud Fist, sheathes his body in armor augmented by a tail-like stabilizer and dual-arm conduits, exponentially boosting combat adaptability.

Formerly a construction laborer, Kazuma turned mercenary to survive and shield Kanami Yuta, a steadfast ally. His fierce loyalty to companions and rebellious defiance against oppressive systems like HOLY drive his choices. The death of Kimishima, a trusted ally and mission coordinator during a HOLY skirmish, hardens his vendetta against the regime, spurring a descent into underground combat circuits where he briefly neglects his protective duties before reuniting with allies.

A volatile rivalry with HOLY operative Ryuho defines key conflicts. Their battles unintentionally tear dimensional fractures, catalyzing disasters such as the Second Uprising. Despite mutual distrust, they forge an uneasy alliance against existential threats to the Lost Ground, though their ideological clash lingers unresolved.

Post-Second Uprising isolation fractures Kazuma’s purpose until renewed bonds with Kanami and comrades reignite his resolve. His Alter’s progression mirrors personal growth—shifting from brute force to calculated control. Though professing mercenary pragmatism, he increasingly intervenes to shield strangers from tyranny, revealing an unspoken ethos of justice.

The character’s arc spans the core series and recap films *Alteration Tao* and *Quan*, which recontextualize pivotal battles and alliances through remastered footage and new scenes, underscoring his role as the Lost Ground’s stalwart guardian. Light novels focus on supporting characters without expanding his narrative, while manga adaptations diverge sharply, amplifying his aggression and altering backstory elements.
