Description
Kuehiko Roshihara is a male anthropomorphic Russian blue cat and one of the two protagonists of the workplace comedy series Working Buddies. He is a college student who shares both classes and a series of part-time jobs with his close friend and roommate, Tapio Chatorazawa. Physically, he carries the sleek, grey-coated features typical of his breed, and he moves through his daily life in an upright, human-like manner.

Where Tapio is buoyant and impulsive, Kuehiko is defined by a markedly pessimistic, cool-headed, and often sour temperament. He approaches each new job with a dry, realist perspective, rarely showing the same unguarded enthusiasm as his partner. Despite this reserved attitude, he is never work-shy; he simply believes that excessive energy is unnecessary and prefers to complete tasks through a cold, calculated efficiency. His apathy can sometimes read as aloofness, but it balances the duo’s dynamic, grounding their escapades with blunt, practical observations.

Kuehiko’s motivations are grounded in pragmatism. He seems less driven by a grand career ambition than by a matter-of-fact desire to earn money and gain experience, taking each short-lived employment in stride. Over the course of the episodes, he faintly softens, demonstrating a growing, unspoken care for the quality of his labor and a steady, if begrudging, bond with Tapio. While the format allows only subtle growth, his reliability and understated competence become constants amid the parade of quirky supervisors and bizarre working conditions.

The most significant relationship in Kuehiko’s life is with Tapio Chatorazawa. The two form a classic odd-couple pairing, in which Kuehiko’s dry commentary and restrained delivery offset Tapio’s boundless energy. Outside this friendship, his family makes brief appearances: his mother, Mrs. Roshihara, is seen toward the end of the season, and a younger sibling named Pekko Roshihara pops up as a supporting character, hinting at a home life that may have shaped his guarded personality. Across each gig, Kuehiko also interacts with a rotating cast of eccentric senior coworkers who often leave him bemused but willing to follow instructions.

Notable abilities align with his feline nature and his calm disposition. As a cat, he is lithe and sure-footed, able to handle physical tasks such as climbing or navigating tight spaces with ease. More distinctive, however, is his skill for dispassionate analysis: he can quickly size up a job’s requirements, identify the most efficient method, and execute it without the distraction of dramatic emotion. This level-headed competence makes him an unexpectedly dependable worker, even if his deadpan face rarely betrays any pride in the result.
